Writing as Healing
SEASONAL WRITING CIRCLES
I have been writing poetry since I was a very young girl. I discovered and dove deeply into personal narrative when I majored in Creative Writing for my undergraduate degree in college, while also contributing my poetry to the university’s literary journal. It was in that era of life that I started to understand writing not just as an art form, but as a tool for personal growth and healing. When I later went on to study Chinese Medicine, and specifically the Five Elements, I was deeply moved by its inherent archetypal wisdom, and was further inspired to explore writing as a healing practice. This inspiration is what birthed the idea to offer seasonal writing circles that use the wisdom teachings of the Five Elements and nature as the central compass. Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal become guides into greater self-discovery, growth, and alignment with nature.
One does not have to consider oneself to be “a writer” to benefit from these seasonal writing circles. These circles are not about refining the craft of writing; they are about using writing as a healing tool, a portal into deeper understanding about one’s self, the wisdom of nature, and the healing journey. Within an intimate and safe space, participants will learn about how each season corresponds to one of the Five Elements and offers us an opportunity to explore how that corresponding element lives and expresses itself within us. These writing circles include meditation, teachings about Five Element/seasonal wisdom, guided journaling prompts, and an optional opportunity to share. These circles are held in my Happy Valley healing sanctuary, and are facilitated with utmost intentionality and care.

About Aimee
For almost twenty years, I have been immersed in the world of nature-based healing, with a special focus on women's health and emotional balancing. In my practice I use a wide range of healing modalities and wisdom traditions to help people find a place of vibrancy and balance within, a place that can get lost beneath the layers of stress and overwhelm. I believe that when we find this balance and reconnect with our most authentic self, we can more freely offer our innate gifts to the world.
As a mystic and poet who is deeply connected to nature on a soul-level, I tune into the more subtle and esoteric dimensions of healing with my clients, while also addressing the very real physical symptoms that disrupt their quality of life. I believe in empowering people in their own healing process by providing them with insights and practices that they can bring home with them. My clinic, nestled in the redwoods and surrounded by gardens, offers a peaceful refuge for clients to release and replenish. Whether you’re interested in my one-on-one healing sessions, group qigong classes, or seasonal writing-as-healing circles, I would be honored to assist you on your unique healing journey. Welcome to Happy Valley Healing, a healing sanctuary for coming home to yourself.
“Embracing unseen mystery,
Winter says to me:
I am not the rising sap of the tree
I am not the beckoning bloom
I am not the ripe, round fruit
I am not jeweled leaf, descending
I am the root
dug deep
entwined in cold, damp earth.
I am the seed that sleeps dormant,
teeming with potential,
my destiny coiled and ready to spring,
come spring.”
- Aimee Miller, from her poem “How to be Winter”
